In The Round V Reception

Friends and followers of Graven Feather will know that last December Pam gave up the 906 Queen W location; in order to have a more nomadic format for the gallery and studio. So getting back into the venue was a perfect for an In The Round exhibit. This exhibit marks the fifth annual In The Round and it was great to see the community that has developed around this event. Danielle Cole's Mad Libb

Danielle Cole is a collage artist. Her current subject matter: birds flying on fish, birds sitting on fine chairs and birds amongst fine art. To celebrate her collage of images I asked Danielle to fill out this mad lib (a collage with words if you would) about her show. Clipped Wings is on exhibit now at Graven Feather until October 3rd. Surface II

Surface II

Last year we teamed up with four other Toronto based art galleries to bring together Surface. Now all of the same galleries- Creative Blueprint, #Hashtag Gallery, Project Gallery, and Black Cat Artspace - are meeting up again to bring you Surface II.  The event will take place at Artscape Sandbox on SaturdaySeptember 24th with the event being split between day time activities and an after party. The day time activities will run between 12:00pm-5:00pm and include a discussion panel and artist talks. Bri Hoy on Embroidery

Bri Hoy has been working with Graven Feather in an internship for the Creative Industries program at Ryerson University. She is leading the 2016 Youth Residency Program this summer where she will be teaching various activities that explore what it means to create work in an artistic field. One of the activities which will be included in this residency, is a demonstration of embroidery stitches. Augustine Tse: Chinese Ink Painting

Augustine is a recent graduate from Hong Kong Baptiste University in Hong Kong. Here he studied fine arts while taking his summers to travel Europe, and China. Now he has arrived in Toronto, Canada looking to dip his toes in the bustling art scene of this city, which he describes as very different from Hong Kong.
